Where do I land?
This is something everyone should know before booking a flight to Iceland:
Your itinerary destination is listed as Reykjavik but you do not arrive in Reykjavik – you land roughly one hour away, in Keflavík.
There is only one international airport in Iceland so every flight originating out of the country will arrive here: Keflavík International Airport. As stated in the name, this airport is located in Keflavík, a town in the Reykjanes region in southwest Iceland. Reykjavík is the capital city of Iceland where many tourists flock each year. This is where most of the hotels are located and where shopping, dining, nightlife, and exploring take place.
The trip to Reykjavík will take about an hour (more or less depending on if you go by bus or rent a car).

Keflavík International Airport
The Keflavík International Airport is rather small compared to other international airports so it’s fairly easy to get around.
How to get to Reykjavík from the airport
Bus transportation
If you plan to spend most of your time exploring on foot in Reykjavík, it will be cheaper to purchase bus transportation to and from the airport to the city. These busses are equipped with AC, WIFI, power sockets, and plenty of luggage storage.
A one-way ticket costs roughly $30.00 and the trip should take a little less than an hour. Children under 5 ride for free.
You can book seats on their website. I recommend purchasing tickets in advance as it will be one less thing to deal with while in Iceland.
Car rentals
Renting a car is a good choice if you’re a group or plan to go the distance, explore other cities, and perhaps take a trip around the island. There are a few car rentals available at the airport.
